no, we are not the airsofters. We are a VERY small subset. They want to sell them johnny open day, they have the numbers and the money - and will rank such things as the mags fitting in pouches well bellow the fps and rate of fire.

Sadly, sadly very true.
Its gone past 2am and I need sleep but I would disagree with some of the points made about the ICS Garand.
ICS are the first people to bring out a skirmishable mass produced Garand which also looks the part. It uses mainstream parts which means that it will be able to be maintained for ever, while being eletric and usable in all conditons (unlike some other WW2 guns on the market!) People moans so far can be put into the following caterogries.
"The Mag hold 42 rounds... WOAH!!! thats way too high!!!" Problem resolved - only put 8 in if that makes you feel better.
"The Mag doesn't fit in my 43 dated belt " - Problem resolved make custom bandoliers to fit like Pats suggestion / If Airborne use rigger pouches. It has also been documented already by cjw957 that the base plate can be removed. Maybe with an easy modification they will work in the gun without the plate. Use ammo bags as per Poachers suggestion.
"Its only 63.333 % correct" - Problem resolved Buy a Marushin, or simply ignore what is wrong or fix it your self. However I like to point out at this time that the Thompson's should have bars not "dials" for its full auto and semi functions. Also the pistol grip is alot larger to fit a motor in. The "M1" Carbines all have a late war site and bayonet lug. AGM Mp40 has a fire select. The list goes on.....
"I dont like the look of the mags in the gun with base plate removed" Problem resolved So you finally get the mags into your belt but now your Garand looks even more "incorrect" .. sigh I give up....
Im not an ICS spokes person and some of there older guns were really crap. Thier old full metal Mp5 wouldn't even fit ICS mags into it! But give the guys a break they are making another gun for us to use instead of making the latest M4 model. If you want one go out and get one. For all those praying that the G&G will be better continue to pray. It looks like it will have EBB, spare parts I can almost gurantee will not be avalaible and unless they have made a "Hinge" on the base plate which can be dropped down to fit a mag into it will be of the same design as the ICS.

I agree with all your points, we have a Garand that looks like it will work, a case for celebration not mourning.
I'm not sure what you mean by the quoted section though?
My TM Thompson has exactly the same fire selectors as my de-act M1. Only the early 1928 types had a different type of selector.
aka Stigroadie
AFRA
better by design
"Truth is a shining goddess, always veiled, always distant, never wholly approachable, but worthy of all the devotion of which the human spirit is capable. "
That's what he's referring to... the 1928 airsoft thompsons only have a new barrel. The receiver is completely wrong and even when you fit a CAW/Mosquito Moulds 1928 set the fire selectors aren't correct.
No you are right, we do at least now have a garand and there are ways around any problems with it. But don't blame us for being disappointed if it's not 100% perfect please. Some of us are right stitch counters after all.
For me, I already have an M14 custom garand and it's these tiny, tiny details that will determine whether I get an ICS or not! The same probably with most other M14 custom garand owners.
ok to try and show what i meant , photo of the garand (not mine ) can see where the base plate on the mag makes it all smooth etc , and the photo of the mag with and without baseplate , if you can get the mag out of gun when used without the plate think it will be ok (at least for me) yes it not quite as smooth etc lol but think i can cope if not will think of something along the lines of the ideas discussed as i will get a garand no matter what
, not to mention i now have 7 mags for one
,also my belt is a repro , not sure if any more room in a real one
Wasn't there something about the mag ejecting when the button on the side of the receiver was pressed or something anyway?
I forget what the button was called now.
what my friend has done is cut the little catch straps from inside and they fit with the plate on , thou little tight but has left them in to try stretch them
What do you mean by "catch straps"?
well what ever the small straps that are inside are for which button down below the flap , if that makes sense (which i don't often)
Oh those! Actually in the mag pouches.
I think, and I may be wrong, that those were used for separating the two clips of rounds that were in the pouch when a Springfield rifle was being used. I think they were not present in later belts anyway.
Heh, well I'd not be doing that to my original belt.
He means the small dividing strap in the cartridge belt. It's the one used for Springfield ammunition as you could get two clips of 1903 anmmo in one or one grand enbloc. His mate has cut out the dividing strap giving slightly more room for the ics magazine. He is hoping that the canvas will stretch as the mags fit rather tightly. Ta da.
Bugger. Not fast enough.
lol yes yer this is only a repro i got a while back , so chop chop it going
Fair enough.
This plate removal from the mags, is it acheived with out resorting to cutting / filing / sawing? Looks like it in the pics but I just wanted to be sure.
no just a little screw you take out and it slides off
Had a play with my mates ICS Garand today was pretty nice.
Compared to my WW2 dated stock its a little bit thicker just about every where. But not major. The top handguard isnt quite the right length as well.
There are some screws facing outward but they dont detract from the actual look of the gun.
Two of the 3 sling loops are massive, like twice the size of mine although due to the nature of amount of kit used during and post ww2 mine might be "wrong"
The mag as already confirmed doesnt fit straight into a garand belt but with modification could easily do.
A point which might intrest the infantry peeps is that it fits staright into my bandolier with the base plate still attached and with no modification. So you could fill your Garand belt with real steel clips and inert ammo and fill a bandolier with the ICS mags. Just a thought.

Apparently mine is still waiting to be upgraded.,so won't get it till next week maybe.
